Feltrino sits between saddle and horse in quilted cotton with a wicking lining — thin enough not to change the fit, shaped enough to stay out of the spine.
Quilted cotton with a wicking lining against the horse, wicking and smooth-faced, with a spine channel that stays open under load rather than flattening onto the vertebrae.
Sheepskin should be washed cool with a wool detergent and dried flat. It takes a winter of mud and a summer of sweat without giving up.
Spare parts and replacement straps stay available for years, because tack is bought to be repaired rather than replaced.
