Imbotto sits between saddle and horse in stainless steel with a wide tread — thin enough not to change the fit, shaped enough to stay out of the spine.
Stainless steel with a wide tread against the horse, wicking and smooth-faced, with a spine channel that stays open under load rather than flattening onto the vertebrae.
Sheepskin should be washed cool with a wool detergent and dried flat. Left in daily use, it comes back from a season looking like it has been cared for rather than survived.
Spare parts and replacement straps stay available for years, because tack is bought to be repaired rather than replaced.
